If you’ve ever crossed paths with Benjamin Baird, PA-C, there’s a good chance he made you feel both heard and cared for. As a longtime orthopedics specialist working side-by-side with orthopedic surgeon Dr. Cary Sanders, Ben has been helping patients in Douglas County get back on their feet, literally, since 2015.
Today, you’ll find him at Cascade Orthopedic Specialists, where he continues to bring skill, warmth, and deep knowledge to every exam room and operating table.
A Calling That Started with a Spark
Ben’s journey into orthopedics started during his clinical rotations in graduate school. Watching orthopedic surgeons help restore mobility and transform patients’ lives struck a chord. He knew then: orthopedics wasn’t just about bones, it was about people, movement, and quality of life.
That spark became a career, and in 2010, Ben officially began practicing as a certified physician assistant in orthopedic surgery. Just a year later, he teamed up with Dr. Sanders at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri, and the two have been working together ever since.
How He Entered The Field
Ben earned his bachelor’s degree from Weber State University, majoring in microbiology and minoring in chemistry. He then went on to Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana, where he completed his Master’s degree and became certified by the NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants). Since then, he’s built a career dedicated to patient-centered orthopedic care.

Ben helps patients navigate diagnoses, understand treatment options, and participate in their healing every step of the way, whether through non-surgical interventions or surgical planning with Dr. Sanders.
He’s especially passionate about making each patient’s journey personal and collaborative. No cookie-cutter solutions, just real conversations, real trust, and real outcomes. “Helping someone regain the ability to do what they love, whether it’s gardening, hiking, or chasing their grandkids, that’s what keeps me going.”
