Patient First, Then A Surgeon
Dr. Cary Sanders, a board-certified orthopedics specialist in Roseburg, OR, has made it his life’s mission to help people move without pain, and he knows that journey firsthand.
Born the youngest of seven boys on a humble farm in Southern Illinois, Dr. Sanders’ journey into orthopedics began long before medical school. Born with clubfoot and enduring multiple surgeries as an infant, he spent his early years not only recovering but also discovering a passion for medicine through his own experiences as a patient.
That personal connection is what sets Dr. Sanders apart. “I never tire of seeing patients improve,” he says. “Nothing is more satisfying than playing a key role in someone’s recovery.”
Education & Surgical Training
After graduating from Winter Haven High School in Florida, Dr. Sanders served a two-year mission in Salvador, Brazil, where his love for people and service deepened. Returning stateside, he studied at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he also met his wife, Katrina.
He graduated from the University of Missouri School of Medicine in 2006 and then completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Tulane University in New Orleans, one of the most respected programs in the nation.
Since then, he’s dedicated his orthopedic surgeon career to helping people walk, run, lift, move, and live without pain.

A Perfect Fit in Southern Oregon
In 2015, Dr. Sanders and his family of nine moved to beautiful Roseburg, Oregon, in search of the perfect place to combine world-class orthopedic care with small-town living. Here, he could focus more on total hip and knee replacement surgery, which he considers his true calling within orthopedics.
Now living on a timber farm in Melrose, Dr. Sanders is proud to call this community home. Whether he’s in the OR or out hiking the hills, he’s all in, committed to the health of his patients and the strength of the region.
